Steve & April's Big Adventure

In August 2006 we began our new life as people without a home, without jobs and without a schedule. We are traveling around the United States in our 1965 Airstream travel trailer.

Progress, Finally

I have been very slow in updating this for those of you still checking on us. The delay has a lot to do with working and crashing in Nashville here and there (currently living in the lap of luxury--thanks, Garnett!) and working in New Harmony every weekend. Lately, my new boss has been very accommodating and allowed me flexibility to get as much work as possible done. We are very grateful for that! To really get a sense of the progress, review the post from September 2007, "The end of paralyzing indecision."
Here is the new front porch

Yes, that's a dishwasher. You can take the boy out of Antioch. . .

The guest room, ready for visitors. Call to reserve your spot on the calendar.

The other room upstairs, with bathroom. The goal is to finish these rooms this weekend. The skylight you can see through the doorway is the portion of the roof that was covered with a blue tarp when we bought the house.

This room will be the library when it has shelves. Until then, it's just where the office stuff is stored. Eventually, it will get the patterned ceiling.

The truly inspirational kitchen! At least, it is when you consider where we started.

Yes, that is Katie's portrait. I needed a little boost one day to convince myself we'd finish eventually and brought it out of storage.

We will soon be in the market for actually entertaining guests. Until Christmas (probably) you have to want to help with projects to come visit. We now have the following amenities for your visiting pleasure: guest bedroom (no door), guest bed, bathroom (with door), hot shower, indoor toilet, refrigerator and microwave (no longer in the garage). For the wonderful offerings and a calendar of events in New Harmony, see any of the following sites: http://www.newharmony.biz/, http://www.newharmonyinn.com/, or www.usi.edu/hnh.
