Steve & April's Big Adventure

In August 2006 we began our new life as people without a home, without jobs and without a schedule. We are traveling around the United States in our 1965 Airstream travel trailer.

Divine Intervention

So, we were going to have to move by the 15th of this month and really didn't have a good plan. But, the closing of the house we're staying in got moved (Sorry to Jim and Annette) to the week of the 20th. This gives us another weekend to get our act together. Also, Steve's father, Gary, has a house on the market that he's willing to let us camp in until it sells. This is where the Airstream has been parked since January so we'll be able to work on it more.

At this point, we are stuck on plumbing because nothing is the same as it was 40 years ago. Steve is calling in help from a number of other people to get the water systems up and running. Getting the Air Conditioner running properly is the goal for this weekend, in addition to beginning the move.

There is a tentative plan to move to NM in mid-May, then I'll return to Nashville to work until the end of June. Anyone who wants to join us in Minnesota in August needs to let me know now!

I had a wonderful trip to Phoenix last week, thanks to the Johnstons and the Slugas. I am once again a somewhat obsessed Bon Jovi fan after that concert. It reminded me why I loved them 20 years ago!!

Work, work, work

We spent all of February spending every free moment working diligently on the Airstream rehab. Luckily the weather has been surprisingly good. So far, we've completed the electrical work (including the cute under-cabinet lighting) and the painting. Gas appliance installation and water tanks and plumbing will likely happen in the next two weeks. Good thing, too, because Steve's aunt and uncle have gotten a contract on their house and we will be moving into the Airstream sooner than expected. This also means we will be moving back to Mt. Juliet, TN until we leave town. No long term travel itinerary has been developed as we don't have time to think about that yet. Steve chose to paint the interior "terracotta, but lighter" and it looks pretty good. The magnetic paint seems to be working well. We'll see how it holds up on walls that get bounced around on the interstate! Leslie and I are remaking the couch/bed and curtains. Hopefully the flooring and curtains will get in before I leave for Phoenix on the 9th. Meredith and I will be enjoying the BON JOVI concert in Glendale, AZ that night!! Special thanks to Kenny for agreeing to let us have a big night out.
